Fairy Caravan FAQs

Here are a few FAQs answered as well as more information about available shipping and payment options. 

1.) Where do you deliver to and what are the costs involved?
The Fairy Caravan delivers all over the world! If you live in South Africa, delivery is FREE for orders over R500!

To make things simple, I have separated my shops according to currencies. If you are from South Africa and would like to shop in Rand, you are welcome to shop in the online shop where currency is displayed in Rand (ZAR). Fairy Caravan makes use of Dawn Wing couriers and delivery within South Africa is free for orders over R500.

If you are from anywhere else in the world and would like to shop in US dollars, you are welcome to shop in the online shop where currency is displayed in Dollar (USD). Here you will find all product prices indicated in USD and the shipping and payment options are tailored to suit International customers. Shipping costs will be provided to you as soon as you have selected the product that you would like to buy, and depends on the size of the parcel that will be sent to you.

There are buttons like the ones displayed below that enable you to switch between the South African and International shops on all the shop pages.

All packages are sent with a tracking number to ensure that your parcel reaches you safely, and your items are packaged securely to reach you in perfect condition.

2.) How much time should I allow for delivery?
Most items are shipped within a maximum of 3 days from the day your order was placed. I always try my best to send packages sooner than that! If shipping within 3 days is not possible, it will be indicated in the item description on the website.

Within South Africa, delivery by courier will take place between 24 to 48 hours after the parcel has been picked up from me. I will notify you as soon as your parcel has been dispatched.

In the case of an International delivery address, your package should arrive 10-14 days after the day your package was mailed to you. If you do not receive your package within this period of time, please contact me so that I can investigate.

3.) What payment methods do you accept?

For South African shoppers:
On the Checkout page you will find the option to choose between three payment types, either PayFast, SnapScan or making a direct bank transfer.

As a South African shopper, PayFast may be a more convenient option for you as you have more payment options, such as paying via EFT as well as using your credit card. PayFast is a payments processing service for South Africans and South African websites that enable easy, secure and instant transfer of money between online buyers and sellers. Your card details are safe as all aspects of the payment process is handled by PayFast and I never get to see your banking details. PayFast notifies me instantly when your payment has been successful.

SnapScan is a way of paying using your mobile phone. You will need to download the SnapScan app onto your phone, and link your bank account to your SnapScan account. Your card details are securely encrypted on your phone. SnapScan doesn’t have access to them, and neither will the shop you’re buying from.

When using the direct bank transfer as your method of payment, you make your payment directly into my bank account (bank account details are provided on the checkout page). Please use your Order ID as the payment reference. Your order will be shipped as soon as the funds have cleared in my account.

For International shoppers:
International shoppers can make a payment via PayPal or by making a direct bank transfer.

If you have an existing PayPal account, you can log into your account to make your payment. If you prefer to pay using your credit card, you can choose to pay using PayPal without needing a PayPal account. Your card details are safe as all aspects of the payment process is handled by PayPal and I never get to see your banking details. PayPal notifies me instantly when your payment has been successful.

When using the direct bank transfer as your method of payment, you make your payment directly into my bank account (bank account details are provided on the checkout page). Please use your Order ID as the payment reference. Your order will be shipped as soon as the funds have cleared in my account.

4.) Is the personal information I enter on your website safe?
Yes, absolutely. I take great care to ensure that my website is secure at all times.

Your payments are taken care of through either a direct bank transfer, SnapScan or PayFast. This means that I never have any access to your bank details – I only receive notification of any payments that you make. These payments are in turn made to me via SnapScan or PayFast.

The same goes for my International shop. Here I use the payment gateway PayPal. Payments are made to me via PayPal, and I never have access to your bank details.

Your name and contact details that you enter on my website will never be disclosed to anyone other than me and I only use this information for the purpose of sending any goods you order from me to the address you provide.

I dislike receiving spam emails as much as you do, so your email address will only be added to my newsletter subscriber list if you opt in to subscribe to my newsletter.

5.) I would like more information about your vinyl wall stickers. How difficult are they to add to my walls?

6.) What if I need to return something?

I take great pride in my Fairy Caravan products and I strive to keep my customers happy!

If the item that you receive from me is not to your satisfaction, please contact me as soon as possible with the details. Items may be returned to me within 7 days (excluding delivery time) of receiving it, and I will either refund you in full for the price of the item, or send you a replacement item.

Items must be returned in an unused condition. It is recommended that goods are returned by recorded delivery and keeping proof of postage. Claims for lost parcels cannot be accepted without the presentation of proof of postage.

Shipping fees are non-refundable and return shipping costs must be paid by the customer.

7.) Could you gift wrap an item for me?
Of course I can! All Fairy Caravan items come beautifully packaged already. If you require extra care with your package for someone special, just let me know and I will make sure that the wrapping suits the occasion!

8.) Who makes your goodies?
All illustrations are hand-drawn by me, Liesl van der Hoven. Images are printed right here in the Western Cape, using the best quality printing techniques and materials available. Products are sewn and stuffed either by me, or by one of the ladies helping me with sewing. I check every completed product personally to ensure that it is of the highest quality.

9.) Is it true that you have Fairies helping you?
Yes, I do! If you don’t believe in fairies, you really should – every person can do with a little help from them now and again!
